"Technical Ministries? I don't recall reading about that in the Bible?!" That may be your first reaction to the idea of a church having a Technical Ministries department. Here at Northeast Presbyterian we strive to reach out to our members and the surrounding community and communicate the gospel, using the most effective means possible. In today's world that means embracing technology - audio systems, video screens, email announcements and websites. And all of this technology requires many hands to make it work! Helping with the sound and lights in a morning service, running the computers and cameras that project images onto the video screens at our 423 service, setting up a power point presentation for a group meeting, duplicating the audio recordings of our sermons - these are just some of the areas where we can use your help!
If you enjoy serving behind the scenes, and are not afraid of technology, then perhaps the Technical Ministries of NEPC is an area where you can plug in! Romans 10:14 reminds us "... how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?" Come help us make the good news of Christ's love heard throughout our community!
The purpose of the Technical Ministries Department is to use the best of today's technology to help the church communicate the good news of God's love. Our desire is to be a transparent conduit, through which the message flows, without drawing any attention to ourselves.

OPPORTUNITIES
The area of Technical Ministries provides many opportunities for people who have an interest in working with the latest in sound, lighting, video and computer equipment. Many of the other ministries at Northeast Presbyterian make use of the Technical Ministries teams - from special meetings and events, to Wednesday night youth worship, and, of course, all of our Sunday worship services. Some of the areas we work in are: (see next page)
Audio - anywhere there is a crowd, there is a need to be heard above them. From plugging in a single microphone for a person speaking to a group, to mixing audio on a digital console for a full band with separate monitors, sound is of paramount importance in the church. ". . . And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?" (Romans 10:14a)
Lighting - Lights are an item that are not noticed - unless they are wrong. Illumination in the Sanctuary not only allows people to clearly see the service, but also helps to create moods and focus attention as needed. With a full theatrical lighting system in the Sanctuary, we are able to handle everything from simple services to full musicals.
Video - Our society is very much a visual one. From magazines and billboards to television, commercials, and movies, we are constantly being communicated to visually. Here at NEPC we desire to use this medium to its fullest. With three remote controlled cameras and a full video switching system in the Sanctuary, and video editing capabilities in a number of locations, we have many opportunities to maximize this tool.
Media Ministries - This area encompasses recordings and website opportunities. With in-house equipment to duplicate and print our own cassettes and CDs, we can make recordings of sermons, special events, teachings and lectures available to shut-ins, missionaries, out of town students, or anyone who wishes to receive them. We also have the ability to make many of these same items available on the internet.
