The purpose of the Special Friends Ministry is to provide each differently-abled member of the NEPC Body of Christ with opportunities to experience the fullness of Christ. Just as significant is "that the work of God might be displayed in his life." (see John 9:3)
ON SUNDAYS
Special Friends Sunday School (9:45 a.m.) - a time of nurture by loving and caring adult teachers and adult/teen buddies, a time of sharing, Bible lessons, praise and worship, craft-making and a time of service outreach (making crafts to distribute at nursing homes. Each month, one of our "special friends" presents a Bible story puppet show that he writes for the class.
Special Friends "Worship" (11:00 a.m.) - an hour during which nurturing caregivers provide love and support for those friends unable to attend the morning worship service. Music and videos are some of the activities included in a quiet atmosphere.
ON WEDNESDAYS
Care and Share (6:30 - 7:30 p.m.) - at present, an hour of music, games and videos. When weather permits, outdoor play is included.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Outings away from church, such as Bowling Parties, are additional activities the group enjoys.
Parent Respite - One Friday evening each quarter during which special friends and their siblings come to the church to enjoy supper together, outdoor and indoor games, puppet show, and a movie while parents have an evening to themselves.
